Nathan Stevens’ portrait (above, by Bettina von Zwehl) is on exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery.

After losing both his legs at the ago of 9, Nathan thought he’s never be able to play sports again. Showing incredible guts and determination, Nathan has since gone on to compete at the Turin and then at the Beijing Paralympics. Now British hopes rest on his mental strength and athletic skills.

The National Portrait Gallery has a great exhibit called Road to 2012: Setting Out celebrating the remarkable men and women who are making the London 2012 Olympic Games happen.

You will see beautiful portraits of outstanding British sports leaders, such as Jessica Ennis (heptathlon athlete), Zoe Smith (the 16-year old weightlifter) and Savannah Marshall (the phenomenal boxer). The portrait and story of the Nathan Stephens will surprise and inspire you.
